International Remote Control Airplanes Competition, May 17-18
The Ottawa Remote Control Club will be hosting the first International Miniature Aerobatic contest in Ottawa on May 17th and 18th. Come and visit us at the Ottawa Remote Control Club flying field to see the marvelous and challenging aerobatic sequences that these remote controlled scale airplanes will perform.. ST. PIUS X HIGH SCHOOL 50th ANNIVERSARY, MAY 23-25, 2008
St. Pius X High School located at 1481 Fisher Avenue is turning 50 this year! All current and former staff and students, families and friends are invited to help celebrate its gloried past in this special week-end.

The festivities begin on Friday, May 23rd, with a Golf Tournament at The Canadian Golf and Country Club. Register for the golf at http://www.canadiangolfclub.com/members/events.aro. Friday night, Pius’ current Parent Council is hosting a Wine and Cheese in the school’s library.
During the day, on Saturday, May 24th, there will be school tours, alumni games, and a children’s fair. On Saturday night, Pius will host the Alumni Social, featuring The JW Jones Blues Band. Finally, the weekend will wrap up at noon on Sunday with Celebratory Mass at St. Pius X presided over by our very own Monsignor Len Lunney.

Oxfam has joined forces with individuals and representatives from Ottawa faith, labour , student and non-governmental organizations in forming the Ottawa No Sweat Coalition. This coalition is part of the Ethical Trading Action Group (ETAG), which is lobbying for Canadian public institutions to adopt ethical purchasing policies and mobilizing for changes to federal textile labeling regulations. If you're interested in getting involved with the Ottawa No Sweat campaign by circulating the petition, providing research and multi-media support, and getting the word out on this important initiative, join Oxfam's Ottawa No Sweat Volunteer Working Group! The Ottawa Literary Heritage Society is seeking volunteers to work in consultation with the City of Ottawa Archives to develop a thematic guide to the city's literary holdings. This project is a great opportunity for anyone looking to gain experience in an archival setting, or for anyone with an interest in putting their writing and research skills to work as a volunteer. Most important, this is a wonderful opportunity to facilitate access to Ottawa's literary history, and to promote awareness of Ottawa's rich literary culture, past and present.
