Exciting times for "Ottawa Live Music"

Something very exciting happened on Charles Anthony's "Ottawa Live Music" program last Thursday evening! An excellent band called Orienteers played a free concert in the Atrium on the fourth floor of the University Centre, and "Ottawa Live Music" was there to broadcast the concert live. From the CKCU studios one floor above, Charles was able to chat with the band on air, and listeners phoned in and talked with them throughout the show.

A video camera in the on-air studio projected a large image on the wall of the Atrium. This allowed the audience and the band members to see Charles hosting the program, working the controls, chatting with the band, fielding calls from listeners and grooving to the wonderful music of Orienteers! Everyone enjoyed seeing this visual reminder that the concert and conversation were being broadcast *live* to a 100 km radius on FM 93.1 and around the world on the internet. Congratulations to Charles Anthony, Dave Pratt, Aiden Mackean and David Sarazin for making everything work perfectly on the technical and programming front.
Orienteers are a "space-folk" group consisting of Ben Wilson, Tom Thompson, Brennan Pilkington and Laura Greenberg. Their new self-titled album features "fragile melodies and delicate vocal harmonies that weave a stunning dreamlike spell over the listener". Listen to Orienteers at www.antiqueroom.ca. Now everyone is looking forward to more great, free, live broadcasts of Atrium concerts on "Ottawa Live Music"... Thursdays at 10:00 pm... check www.ottawalivemusic.com for details.
